Commonly used in pairs and ideal for unwinding operations on shaftless unwinders, our Mechanical Chucks with Axial Thrust are particularly suitable for applications where perfect core centering must be ensured under high loads and at high speeds.
The activating system is fully mechanical, therefore no auxiliary air supply devices (manual or automatic) are required.
The radial expansion of the steel keys, suitable for locking cores of any material, is achieved by the action of mechanical arms which, when closing, engage the chucks.
The axial thrust is transmitted to the internal conical elements of the chucks, activating the radial expansion of the locking keys and securing the core.
A properly calibrated internal return spring allows the locking keys to retract when the mechanical arms are opened.
Standard available sizes are for 3” (76.2mm) and 6” (152.4mm) cores.
The chucks are manufactured entirely in steel, while the mounting flange is always custom-made to fit any machine connection.
Also available in the “Dual Step” version: chucks featuring a single base body with two expansion stages arranged in contiguous series and compatible with cores of different internal diameters (the most common being 3” and 6” cores).
