Unidirectional Friction Shafts with Double-row Ball Rings

Our Friction Shafts are particularly suitable for rewinding reels made of materials with uneven thickness along the width, as they do not generate tension differences during the rewinding of multiple reels.

They are ideal for use on slitting and rewinding machines, and ensure uniform winding of all types of reels, including very narrow ones.

When the machine is running, friction force is regulated by a constant supply of compressed air with variable pressure between 0 and 6 bar, through a rotating joint connected to the shaft axis.

The compressed air allows the felt friction strips to expand inside the ball rings positioned along the base shaft, transmitting to each reel the necessary torque to ensure a uniform winding.

A slight rotation of the cores on the double-row ball rings provides firm radial and axial grip.

FEATURES

  • Expanding shaft base in 42CrMo4 – 1.7225 steel, chrome-plated, ground and electrodynamically balanced
  • Available from 2” (50mm) up to 17” (440mm) ID cores
  • Minimum allowed reel width: 7mm for 3” cores e 10mm for 6” cores
  • Axial or radial pneumatic air supply with rotating joint of our production
  • Custom-made according to the specific machine design

BENEFITS

  • Fast and easy core loading and positioning
  • Cores centered on friction rings and firmly locked until each individual reel is fully rewound
  • Interchangeable friction rings for different core diameters on the same base shaft
  • Compatible with cardboard, plastic and metal cores
  • Excellent friction sensitivity
  • Possibility of rewinding multiple reels of different widths on the same base shaft
  • Easy replacement of felt friction strips on the base shaft
